Azula Arc

Whattup Rizzlers,
So... it's been a while since I wrote a proper email. That's because I have been busy killing myself. Not that I haven't been committed to my mission before now, but reading The Fourth Missionary, studying Ether 12 like 4 times in one week, and training a new missionary is almost as crazy and invigorating of a combination as the Levothyroxine Sodium tablets our alchemist landlord homebrewed in her pharmacy for me.

If you're reading this and also my mom, that last sentence was a joke.

Also, our mission president's invitation this week was to "believe, plan, and act with the expectation to baptize every week". So with PMG chapter 8 coursing through my veins and my sister's goals and plans voice memos ringing hauntingly in my ears, we... just did what President said. And it worked.

Basically the summary is that I'm going insane in the best way possible. So let's get on to

3 days
P day we went to this park with our district, one of the elders lost his phone and also Elder Barata lost his companion. Permanently. Yup, the fourth guy in our house went home so now we've gone trio mode. Tuesday we had weekly planning and like... a really good companionship council actually. We all came out of that on fire and ready to work. And so we worked a bunch.

Also we ripped the baptismal invite on Daniel, one of the guys from Elder Barata's area. I basically just read "Walking in Covenant Relationship with Christ" from last conference to him and then was like "do you want this" and then he was like "yes" so i was like "cool get baptized" and he was like "ok".

The dog days
Thursday I woke up completely morto in the morning hahaha. Made it up for personal study though and WOW I love Bruce R Mconkie, imma leave this link to "Agency or Inspiration" cuz it was quite epic

Also the Brother of Jared story is like, one of the coolest stories in all of Scripture. But anyways then I collapsed dead for the rest of the day and couldn't get out of bed. Then Elder Barata was like "actually we like do have stuff to do" and I was like "ok God I've gotta do this need some help here" and oh boy was I sure able to shuffle around like a zombie to all of our lessons. It's OK though cuz Elder Barata do be carrying. I also got a free thing of terere from an investigator. Idk if I've talked about terere yet but it's like 100% not a drug. It's just this little herb that you have to drink out of a special straw and cup with lemonade. Super normal. Also at night we had an epic photoshoot because we were completely soaked from the rain.

One of our lessons on Friday was with Sara, Sara is our friend who is really loving the Book of Mormon but also has this huge ferocious dog that always barks at us when we get there. So we visited her and she lulled the dog to sleep so we could study some third Nephi, but as we were getting up to leave the dog also woke up and bravely and loyally defended it's owner through use of violent force against the nearest threat. That happened to be me. So this mongrel goes to latch onto my arm and mustering all of my self defensive instincts and reflexes, I cursed "fetch" and did absolutely nothing. So she latches onto my arm, and then after like 5 seconds decides I'm not tasty enough and leaves. Sara puts the dog in a choke hold and everybody's like "oh no Elder Ebbert are you OK" and... turns out I was completely fine, somehow the dog did not even penetrate the skin and it barely even left a mark. So that was pretty cool.

Also sorry Elder Staker lol

Marathon
Saturday was crazy cuz we had to literally run like up and down the length of our area twice, first to get Daniel's baptism interview done and then to get to a birthday party of one of the members. So we stuffed ourselves on sweet stuff and then everybody threw up at home. Also we had an epic fetching churro that we bought out of the back of one of the churro cars it was literally like the best thing I've ever had. Stuffed with doce de leite, covered in cinnamon, then drenched in more doce de leite, then coated with peanuts... I think I'm going to die here.

Baptism!
Sunday was Daniel's baptism! It was super cool even though we had to run back to our house to grab a towel. Sara came to church too! I'm pretty sure she felt guilty about the dog still lol. But it seems like she liked it. Also there's this kid who apparently is a recent convert who came into Sacrament meeting and followed us around the whole time, he even tried to help with Daniel's confirmation lol. I'm not sure who he is or who his parents are because he kinda just appeared out of nowhere and kept showing up wherever we were. His name is Hugo.

Sunday afternoon I powered off again, I seriously love being a missionary but hooo boy it can be draining. We also had English class and I got to talk about Wisconsin food, which made me quite happy. Finally we ended off the night by listening to an inactive member complain about how the church is dumb because it didn't give him money and his bishop offended him for like an hour. That was frustrating.

Closing Remarks
So yeah. One more week down. I'm coming up scarily fast on 1 year as a missionary, and I really wanna start kicking things into higher gear here. But overall an amazing week. Love you all and the Church is true!

God is Good,
Elder Ebbert
