Elder Lawson Paul Ebbert

Dear President Hess,


It is a great pleasure to inform you that Elder Lawson Paul Ebbert will depart for home on February 11, 2024, from the Brazil São Paulo Interlagos Mission following twenty-four months of dedicated service to the Lord. I believe that his family has been in touch with you regarding a time for you to release him on the 12th. 


Elder Ebbert has labored faithfully in the Lord's vineyard in Brazil to bring others to the Savior Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel. We honor him for his inspired service and the goodness of his life, and we know that the Lord has rich blessings in store for him (D&C 76:5-10). 


Elder Ebbert has a great passion for gospel study and has “cultivated the word” these last two years, and his faith in Jesus Christ has become a "tree springing up unto everlasting life." In his final zone conference, he testified powerfully that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that the Church is the kingdom of God on the earth, that President Nelson is a prophet, and that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. He stated, “I know these things of myself.” [I should also note that he had a great passion for the Portuguese language and reached a level of fluency attained by few non-native speakers.]


He begins the next phase of his lifelong discipleship with a solid foundation. Sister Rollins and I feel that the Lord will entrust him with significant service over the years, and we hope that such service will begin shortly after his arrival home!


We love Elder Ebbert and will miss him here. We are so glad he was able to spend this time in the Brazil São Paulo Interlagos Mission! He is a remarkable young man who has everything going for him, and we look forward to hearing of significant developments in his life related to marriage, children, schooling, career, and so forth.

P.S. The Missionary Department advises that formal release certificates are no longer issued by the mission president. The missionary will receive an email after the mission with a certificate attached and with instructions for how to find the certificate in his or her churchofjesuschrist.org account.

Whattup Fellowsaints, This week was awesome. I almost entirely recovered from my bout of sicknesses, and we started to see miracles at literally every turn. That's... basically it. The After-Sacrament Meeting We have this one guy who literally has been in the chapel 12 times but he hasn't been baptized yet. Why? Well, his wife is on the verge of bringing forth a child, his nephew is possessed by the devil, and also he doesn't live in our area of teaching. The Greatest High

Whattup Spirit Junkies,  As I sit at my slightly cluttered but mostly organized desk covered in books of scripture and laser-engraved knives, tastefully decorated with a singular potted plant, I sip my coke zero out of a plastic cup and eat air-fried chicken nuggets out of a plastic bowl and realize...  That's it. I peaked.  Nourish and Strengthen Well anyways, heres what happened in the last two weeks. Two tuesdays ago, we had lunch with our favorite recent con Ana, and she invited her aunt to come and eat lunch with us. We took the opportunity to teach her some cool stuff and she also asked us to give her a blessing, which was very spiritual. Then we went back, did weekly planning, and then got caught up in a meeting with our bishop where he printed off like 400 names of people for us to visit. A little Loki for ya So this week's email is probably gonna be talking mostly about The Work. I apologize because that's probably not going to be as funny or interesting as all of my bizarre adventures in Brazil, but as my mom so keenly put it to me last week: "Lawson, writing is your coping/therapeutic/digestive mechanism!"
