The Getaway
Whattup samurai dreamers,
Here it is. The last transfer. The final stretch. Then, it's back to the real world, where everything is sunshine, rainbows, and no responsibilities at all.
So what's going on with Elder Ebbert in the last moments of missionary life?
Blue Horizons
In a surprise play from President Rollins and after literally begging our APs for a new companion, I got transfered after a whopping 1 transfer in Capão Redondo. My new are is Horizonte Azul: a beautiful, completely flat place hardly touched by humans.
Just kidding. It's another favela. Built inside of like 4 concentric valleys.
But it's lit here. My new comp, Elder Krum, is diagnosably insane and totally hilarious. I love this guy. Perfect comp for a last transfer.
Best part of the area: some members gave us half a bottle of maple syrup and a jar of peanut butter. I'm gonna have unlimited American food here in a couple weeks but still... it's nice. I fetching love peanut butter
Futeballed
On Fridays here the elders run a futebol (soccer, for non south american speakers) activity for all the youth. A ton of youth bring their friends so it's a lit finding activity.
Also, we get to play soccer. So it's fun.
Also not to flex but the brazillians specifically asked me to be their goalie when they were team making, so that made me feel pretty good about my soccer skills. I was so good that I even Scott Sterling'd two balls to the face, one of which gave me a bloody nose. That was fun.
Increase the joy
I've been studying the Isaiah chapters in the Book of mormon because it's something I've always wanted to get around to but never have. First of all: Isaiah is a dog. homie has some epic fetching prophecies. One of my favorite verses in there is this one from 2 Nephi 19:2-3:
"The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Thou hast multiplied the nation, and increased the joy—they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil."
First of all, the land of the shadow of death is a slick gangstas paradise reference. Second of all... awesome. I love the phrase "multiplied the nation and increased the joy". I personally believe that those are two of Jehovah's favorite verbs: multiply and increase. The atonement isn't just to balance the scales; it's so that we might have live "more abundantly" (John 10:10). The Lord wants to multiply, increase, and give grace to even our smallest efforts. I love that idea.
And what specifically does the Lord increase? Our joy! Wherever we start, the Lord can increase it.
Well that's all for this week gente. See yall next week, and always remember...
God is Good.
Elder Ebbert
